A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Tests were performed on coated vs noncoated steel nails to determine effectiveness of number of proposed coating materials; results of study showed that by using certain coatings ease in driving of nails was increased 38%; joint stiffness at high withdrawal loads was increased; immediate withdrawal resistance of plain-shank nails was increased 125% and that of helically threaded nails 67%; delayed withdrawal resistance of plain-shank steel and aluminum nails was increased 312% and 725%, respectively; and that of helically threaded steel nails was increased 103%; corrosion resistance of steel nails during prolonged exposure to 100% relative humidity was improved considerably.
