Improved type of multiple-arch dams
Descibes dam in which each buttress pier consists of double walls stiffened by cross-walls, purpose of which is to eliminate tendency of high buttresses to buckle; example is given which shows that multiple-arch dams of improved type may be built with safety to heights much greater than heretofore has been considered feasible. (See also - vol. 49, no. 6, Aug. 1923, pp. 1065-1092, 13 figs (discussion), nos. 8, 9, and 10, Oct., Nov. and Dec., 1923, pp. 1767-1784; 1924-1926, and 2067-2068, 14 figs.)
