Effectiveness of mineral admixtures in preventing excessive expansion of concrete due to alkali-aggregate reaction
Evaluation of 20 materials, representing eight different classes of mineral admixtures, using both chemical and mortar-bar test methods; each of repacement materials evaluated presents excessive expansion if sufficient quantity is used; correlations found between effectiveness and fineness, dissolved silica, and percentage of alkali retained by reaction product.
