A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Development of glued laminated wooden construction since first German patent in 1904; advantages are: no limit to size, efficient structural shape, optimum moisture content, resistance to fire, decay and insect attack, and efficient use of high grade and lower grade material; adhesives most widely employed are casein and urea formaldehyde; if highest water resistance is demanded, resorcinol formaldehyde is used.
