Wartime tunnelling in Apennine range, Italy 1944-5
Operations described were carried out by Railway Construction Engineers, South African Engineer Corps, of which two tunnelling Companies Mines Engineering Brigade were a part; paper is confined to period of operations by one of Tunnelling Companies; Meretto deviation, which was purely mining operation in that it was tunnel put through virgin ground; repairs to Serravalle Tunnel which had been demolished.
