Diamond drills set up new tunneling scheme
Spillway at Hungry Horse Dam, Mont, designed to pass flow of 53,000 cfs was drilled from full size chambers enlarged from small bottom drift; total excavation 26,743 cu yd of hard rock; all of diamond drill holes were loaded full length with Atlas 60% gelatin in 1 1/4 × 12-in. cartridges along with Primacord for detonating.
