Mine discovered in 1824, has produced more than 1,000, 000 flasks; Bur of Mines drilled 36 holes, totaling 6807 ft of diamond drilling, along contact between serpentine and Franciscan sandstones and other sedimentary formations; ore bodies are found along this contact and occur in carbonate silica rock.
