Precasting speeds factory construction
Apron wall and grade beam slabs for industrial plant built near Pittsburgh were precast in road forms; wall slabs are mostly 4 ft high, 20 ft long and 7 in. thick; grade beams generally are 3 to 5 ft high, 18 ft 6 in. long and 8 in. thick; building is one story combination factory and warehouse, 720 × 900 ft; construction procedure; units lifted directly from casting slab with crane after concrete had developed strength of 2000 psi.
