Effect of rate of extension on Young's modulus of keratin fibres
Variation of Young's moduli of wet Cotswold wool and human hair fibers with rate of extension was measured; both at 20 C and at 40 C wool fibers showed linear relation between Young's modulus and logarithm of rate of extension for rates up to 16% per min; for human hair modulus is constant for rates of extension between 16 and 2% per min, but falls off thereafter; other results.
