Landslide at Yui and its countermeasure
Following landslide of Mar 14 1961 on steep mountain slope facing Suruga Bay, investigation was initiated for purpose of stabilization of landslide; there are two surfaces of rupture, at 2.5 to 7.0 m and at 40 m; landcreeping area on first surface of rupture is active now and most of soil mass is formed of weak clay which is very difficult to improve; numerous faults, fissured zones and springs in landslide area contribute to instability of area; program of soil mass removal, surface and underground water drainage is recommended.
