Evolution of development of Hongrin-Leman falls
Development required piercing 20.8 km of aqueduct tunnels and construction of two-arch dams which give daily storage capacity of 750,000 cu m; 1220 m long 2.9 m diam steel-lined shaft with 78.6% slope delivers water at rate of 32.5 cu m/sec under 840 m average head to four double-wheel Pelton turbines driving combined generator-motors capable of delivering 60 Mw each; during pumping periods, motors drive four five-stage pumps with 24.7 cu m/sec total output.
