A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
To examine proposals for new entrance to Grangemouth Docks, hydraulic model of Firth of Forth estuary is used; hard bed is to be retained and model will include dock entrance with variations of dredged approach channel; Longannet generating station, for which model was originally built, is now in operation and its effects will be simulated; examination will be carried out using miniature current meters and floats and will be directed towards minimizing deposition of silt in approaches to dock entrance when works are completed and dock is in use; construction and characteristics of model and its simulation of conditions existing prior to erection of generating station.
