Dynamic response of footings to vertical loading
Method is developed for analysis of vertical mode of vibration of rigid circular footing resting on surface of elastic half-space; solution includes all ranges of frequencies for steady-state vibration and it is shown how transient response caused by pulse-type loading can be calculated from steady-state solution by simple Fourier technique; it is shown that elastic half-space model behaves similarly to simply damped oscillator and simplified analog of mass-spring-dashpot type is proposed for practical calculations.
