Uprooting stresses of deep foundations
Method is presented for evaluating tensile stress at breaking point of piles and anchor plates when pulled out vertically; laboratory experiments revealed existence of different types of rupture, depending on materials and foundation depth, and provided better understanding of mechanism of foundation uprooting; expressions derived and diagrams enable easy calculation of maximum pulling force; their validity was checked by analysis of full-scale tests.
