Non-Newtonian flows -- Their value in civil engineering
Figures are presented that illustrate flow of non-Newtonian fluids such as portland cement paste, paint, foams, rock under very high pressures, ice, cohesive and organic soil, slurries, sludges and emulsions; entire area of materials can benefit from research in this area; for these reasons Task Committee for Non-Newtonian Flows has been organized within Fluid Dynamics Committee of ASCE's Engineering Mechanics Div to carry out research in this field.
