A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
High-rise buildings should be sprinklered throughout; sprinkler protection means smaller fires and reduced demands for water making fire manageable; upper floors of high-rise building have same access problems as do basements; water supply system for fire protection should be divided into pressure zones of 12 stories; each zone would have normal operating pressures with its own water supply supplemented by fire pumps; in sprinklered buildings, there should be connections on each floor for fire department use from sprinkler risers.
