Effect of cycling moisture content on lateral load-carrying capacity of three-member nailed wood joints
Study of lateral load-carrying capacity of joints was carried out to compare strength of 3/8 and 5/8-in. plywood splice plates with nails in single shear and double shear, and to compare strength of plain-shank and deformed-shank nails in single shear and in double shear; data pertinent to this study were specific gravity, moisture content of specimens at time of testing, number of moisture cycles specimens were subjected to, and load readings obtained at predetermined deformation increments.
