Contemporary library design
Floating roof of St. Bernard Parish Library in Louisiana is protected by glass panel which forms upper part of all four exterior walls; there are 16 supporting columns, each of which has four arms tapering outward at ceiling line; 4-ft fluorescent dome fixture was located at exact center of each column; two luminaire sizes were required; first has 4-ft diam and houses eight 4-ft 40-w rapid-start lamps; second has 2-ft diam and houses six 2-ft 20-w trigger-start lamps; other details such as integration of exterior and interior columns into one pattern.
