Nonregular progression in strain hardening shells
Solution of problem of non-regular progression of stress profile in analysis of load-deformation relationship of long circular cylindrical shells made of isotropic linear strain hardening material; shells are assumed to be simply supported at both ends, with zero end load and subjected to uniform internal pressure; exact Tresca yield criterion is approximated by means of hexagonal yield surface of slope 1/128 in stress space; comparison of stress profiles and displacements with those obtained by using circumscribing square yield criterion shows remarkable difference between two results.
