Contribution to problem of minimum rigidity of shells
Axially compressed circular cylindrical shell stiffened by longitudinal hollow ribs is considered; solution is obtained to problem of minimum distance between ribs which is required to make local buckling load for particular fields between stiffeners equal to buckling load at which failure of whole cylinder would occur; results of experiments carried out on paper cylinders are reported.
