Using electric analogy earlier described (see Engineering Index 1964 p 1912) study is made at seepages under dam and under cutoff; method is increasingly effective in proportion as superposed soil layers have different permeabilities; some examples are given showing effect of permeability of below-ground layers on uplift pressure on dam at surface level.
