Use of prestressed rock anchors (system BBRV) in raising height of Spullersee dams
Top water level of two massive concrete dams built in 1922-25, with crown lengths of 278-m and 186-m, and height of 34-m and 24-m, respectively, was raised by 4.90-m by corresponding increase in dam heights; stability of new superstructure was insured by boring row of holes along crown to depth of 5.50-m below dam foundation, and anchoring superstructure to old crown by means of prestressed BBRV cables anchored in solid rock.
