Hydraulic efficiency in culvert design
Although all of equations required for hydraulic design of culverts are well-known, determination of which equation applies to particular situation is difficult to determine; 22 subitems are listed for consideration by designer as he determines hydraulic performance of culverts; degree of competence required for this determination is such that only well-trained and competent engineers should be entrusted with it; examples illustrate philosophies of designing culverts for unique or single head-discharge relationship and for nonunique or multiple and timewise indeterminate head-discharge relationship.
