Penetration test for determining compressive strength of low-density concrete
Data on penetration resistance of cellular, perlite, and vermiculite concretes using four different sizes of needles with four different depths of penetration were compared with directly determined compressive strengths of concretes; data indicate that penetration resistance of 1/20-sq in. needle at 0.25 in. penetration correlates well with compressive strength and is adequate measure of that property.
