Elastic properties of concrete at high temperatures
Moduli of elasticity and shear of concrete subjected to steady-state conditions at various elevated temperatures are discussed; values of moduli were obtained from tests of right-circular cylindrical cantilever beams, statically loaded to produce bending and torsional stresses simultaneously; tests were made at 75, 300, 600, 900 and 1200 F; concretes made with four types of aggregate and having compressive strength ranges of 4000 to 4500 and 6000 to 6500 psi were used; tests were performed at age of 28 days; upper and lower boundary functions for reduction in modulus of elasticity were determined from experimental data.
