Stability is characterized by bleeding and segregation tendencies of concrete using direct method of measurement based on flotation over carbon tetrachloride; results were obtained for range of cement pastes illustrating relationship between water-cement ratio and initial rate of bleeding and also bleeding capacity; bleeding capacities per unit volume of cement paste obtained for concrete mixes were much lower than equivalent values obtained for neat paste; direct link between internal cohesion and resistance to segregation is illustrated.
