Buckling tests on reinforced concrete frames with two hinges
Cross beams of two-hinged portal frames with height equal to span were symmetrically loaded with two concentrated forces eccentric to columns; safety factors deduced from these tests were about 23% larger than those obtained from tests of single columns; with increasing slenderness, safety factors decreased at first; however, for extremely large slenderness ratios, they increased again; test results together with theoretical considerations allow numerical estimation of this safety factor increase.
