Geology of uranium deposits near Stanley, Custer County, Idaho
Ore occurs in steeply dipping fractures in batholithic rocks and silicic intrusive rocks, and disseminated in beds of arkosic conglomerate at base of Challis formation; characteristics of deposits that indicate their hydrothermal origin are control of deposits by fractures, presence of uraninite, marcasite, and stibnite in ore, as well as presence of chalcedony in some vein deposits, and hydrothermal alteration of host rocks; mines and prospects.
