Aluminium dome structures and long span roof units
Shallow domed roofs can be built up to 600 ft in diam with rise of 75 ft at crown and about 1/7 of weight of steel structure; assembling at ground level and lifting into position; stress tests; tables show measured stresses for pressure and suction loading; effects of expansion and contraction; use of Tufnol bearing pad to reduce wear from movement; use of insulation and ceiling boards.
