Eight strong-points, each consisting of anchored caisson tripod, provide offshore anchorage pier at Newington, NH for Simplex Wire and Cable Co's cable laying ship; resistance of anchored tripod to horizontal thrust is unaffected by variation in elevation of point of horizontal load applied at its apex; caissons are formed by lowering pipe of 1/2 in. wall thickness and 30 in. diam to rock; socket is provided deep in rock by drilling; concrete encased steel core extends to apex of tripod.
