Two general methods are available for reducing flaming characteristics of wood by use of fire retarding chemicals; one method is impregnation treatment which deposits water borne chemicals within wood, and other method is application of suitable coatings to wood surfaces; comparison of fire retarding paints and impregnation treatments; effectiveness; application; cost; strength of wood; general durability; summary of comparison of two methods.
