Multiple-arch concrete roof saves steel
Design of war plant was changed from structural steel to concrete frame and multiple arch thin slab concrete roof when steel was banned for such projects; adopted design requires only 2.7 lb of steel per sq ft of floor area. (See also Concrete and Constr Eng v 38 n 7 July 1943 p 231-4)
