Seismic subsurface exploration on st. Lawrence river project
Seismic method used extensively by Corps of Engineers, U S Army, in preliminary studies of project in International Rapids Section; program included tests in both quiet and swift water; special apparatus and methods devised; use of seismic data enabled design of concrete structures, navigation channels, and hydraulic cuts to proceed more rapidly than if exploration consisted only of drill holes. (See also - discussion v 69 n 4, 6, 10, Apr 1943 p 584-6, June p 861-7 p 584-6, Dec p 1608-10)
