Propagation of flame in breaks in mine roofs
First series of tests, using cement asbestos boards to simulate mine roof; summary of results obtained with gaps between walls; second series, using slate and glass surfaces; third series, on projection of flame in breaks; comparison of results with those obtained in experiments on propagation of flame in tubes; conclusion is that variation in mine roof breaks cannot be covered in laboratory experiments. (See also - (discussion); n 4285 Feb 12 1943 p 183-6; Instn Min Engrs -- Trans v 102 pt 6 and 7 Mar 1943 p 231-38 (discussion) 238-41 and (discussion) Apr p 248)
