Oregon tests on composite (timber-concrete) beams
Tests were prompted by desire of Oregon State Highway Dept to develop short span highway bridge intermediate in cost between untreated timber trestle and reinforced concrete viaduct; important conclusions is that ultimate strength of composite beam (of type tested), suitably designed, is at least twice that for same materials and same dimensions independently employed.
