Laminated timber bridge deck developed in Arizona
Design, proposed by writer and developed by F. M. SHAW, is composed of laminated pieces placed longitudinally with span; pieces are offset vertically to increase depth of slab; lean concrete filling, preferably light cinder concrete, is placed in channels in top of slab and broomed flush with tops of upper planks, to provide firm base for 2-in. asphaltic oil cake.
