Tall powerplant chimneys and their construction
Several examples of recently built self-supported reinforced concrete chimneys and pyramid framework-supported steel or concrete chimneys are described and illustrated; modern chimneys are equipped with precision instrumentation for measuring composition, pressure, temperature and velocity of flue gases; they will provide valuable data for determining ways of more effective protection of chimneys against corrosion by gases diffusing into chimney lining materials.
