Relationship between compressive strength and modulus of rupture of fired clay products
Values for compressive strength and modulus of rupture, obtained with briquettes made from 23 different clays fired at various temperatures, were assessed to determine relationship between two types of strength; relationship exists for individual clay, with constants differing from clay to clay; influence of porosity is discussed in connection with relation that holds for cement mortars, concrete and fired clay products; in testing applicability of clay for different brick types, estimates can be obtained for compressive strength when modulus of rupture is known.
