Unsoundness test for limes without cement
Work was done in connection with use of lime as constituent in building materials; lime powder compacts with nominal diameter of 1. 25 in. were made under 20,000 lb load; initial diameter was taken as average of three lines drawn across diameter of compact in India ink; compacts were autoclaved at 295 psi for 3 hr; expansions are expressed as percentage linear expansion along diameter or thickness or by volumetric expansion calculated from diameter and thickness; compacts containing precipitated calcium hydroxide, hydrated dolomitic lime (DLH), DLH-calcium hydroxide, and DLH-cement mixtures were studied.
