Building frames -- Effect on fire resistance of floor and ceiling assemblies
Performance of floor and ceiling assemblies under fire conditions is determined by load carrying rather than heat transmission criterion; changes in modulus of elasticity and yield stress as function of temperature are used to determine onset of structural collapse mechanisms; low carbon structural steel is not intended for elevated temperature service although such service is imposed under fire conditions; computer program is being attempted to evaluate axial load and bending moments generated in fire exposed assembly to point of full development of collapse mechanism.
