A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Largest single use for asphalt cutbacks is in construction of pavements; another high-volume use is in waterproofing and damp-proofing of structures; heavily filled asphalts of brush, spray, and trowel grades are used as industrial coatings; emulsions are used as foundation coatings, sound deadeners, underbody coatings, roof coatings, insulation coatings, masonry coatings, and concrete curing agents which prevent excessive surface evaporation as concrete cures; they combine with portland cement to produce flooring compositions that exhibit many of desirable features of both asphalt and concrete.
