Random vibration of beam column
Lateral displacement of vertical cantilever beam subjected to axial load acting at free end and under random horizontal motion of clamped end is evaluated; axial load is assumed to be less than fundamental buckling load of column; for random motion of clamped end, particular form of random process is considered possibly appropriate for motion resulting from earthquake acceleration; problem might be considered as simplified model of tower of suspension bridge under horizontal earthquake acceleration.
