Stable form of equilibrium of pebble beach subjected to surf
When subjected to wave action, sand or pebble beach assumes form of cylindrical surface which remains fixed for constant wave forces; if wave force changes, this surface will move; approximate quantitative analysis is made of this phenomenon, and results are compared with observational data; equations derived are applicable only to that beach portion which is periodically drained and then washed by surf.
