Liverpool airport's new £s;3 million runway makes progress
Features of construction of new 7500-ft east-west runway and parallel taxiways together with 1000-ft extension at south end of existing subsidiary runway, and taxiway linking this to new runway; runway construction, which is 150 ft wide, comprises 4 in. hot-rolled asphalt, 9 in. continuously reinforced pavement quality concrete, 4 in. dry-lean mix concrete; along each side of runway are paved shoulders 25 ft wide for emergency use; these are surfaced with 3 in. Bitmac on 6 in. lean concrete on hard filling.
