Behavior of deep foundation subjected to lateral loads
Analysis proposed will provide method of computation more suitable to cases occurring in current engineering practice; fundamental concepts of critical depth, etc are defined; 4 actual examples considered deal with very rigid deep foundations subjected at upper section to horizontal load, to bending moment, and to lateral load T, and with pile of great length under horizontal load at its upper section; formulas developed have been experimentally proved; special attention drawn to effect of ultimate lateral stress on shafts of 30-90 cm diam and to series of loading tests on vertical walls of excavation. In French with English and German abstracts.
