A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Report of research by Road Research Laboratory into relation between rate of rainfall and rate of runoff from urban areas, with principal object being to produce method of calculating rates of storm runoff in sewer systems that would be accurate and reliable under wide range of conditions; method devised to overcome deficiencies in existing methods, was found to be accurate and reliable for calculation of runoff hydrographs for all urban areas studied; known as RRL hydrograph method, it is based on broadly same principles as unit hydrograph method; program for electronic computer was developed to enable method to be used simply and economically for designing sewer systems. (see also abstract in Surveyor v 122 n 3696 Apr 6 1963 p 406-7)
