Eccentric load distribution in crane runway beams
Torsional stresses in runway rail carrying beams, and 2 fundamental approaches to construction of such beams are discussed; first method recommends twist-yielding construction allowing for self-adjustment of top rail surface to wheel profile; in second method, torsionally stiff construction is endorsed, with corresponding reinforcement of top chords against twisting.
