Properties of radiation shielding concrete
Study of boron-containing aggregates from United States and Great Britain and of 7 heavy aggregates from Japan; data are presented and discussed concerning mix proportions, workability, unit weight, strength, drying shrinkage, and absorption coefficients vor γ- and X-rays; formulas for estimating unit weight of concrete from specific gravity of aggregate; tests showed that, of boron-containing material, deleterious effects of colemanite on concrete strength and setting time is greater than that of borocalcite.
