Calculation of stress from strain in concrete
Mathematical methods used by Bur of Reclamation to compute stress from measured strain in concrete are presented; methods developed are based on studies which indicate that direct application of Hooke's Law to problems of stress and strain in concrete without modification is in error; its modification is necessitated by phenomenon of "creep" exhibited by concrete; physical properties of concrete; application of laboratory data to measured strains; actual computation of stress; average logarithm method and its use.
