Silo pour takes seven days
Construction and lifting techniques of slipforms used in construction of 93 ft high silo walls on Neville Island in Ohio River below Pittsburgh; each of 9 silo core forms consisted of fully decked circular platform pierced by 6 equally spaced round cutouts for interior columns; wood construction was used for all formwork; lifting yokes, which tied variously shaped core forms together across 12 in. wall slots, were of box-section steel plate construction; controlled from central pumping unit, 345 hydraulic jacks eased forms upward 7 in. each hour.
